The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead the Test Platform team. SoFi is making a fundamental shift in how we test software: moving from traditional pre-production environments to testing micro-services in production and using AI to accelerate testing in a complex, regulated financial platform. This is a high impact role that will lead this transformation. You'll own the strategy and execution for areas such as shift left testing, test accounts, test data generation, test tenancy, AI accelerated testing and the platforms that make safe production testing possible at scale. You will also drive investments in the underpinning developer infrastructure that enables hundreds of engineers to build, test, and release software every day.

You will start with a team and a mandate to grow - expanding scope, and developing senior technical and management talent to lead. Your work will directly accelerate and transform every product team at SoFi, defining how they validate their software safely, quickly, and with confidence in a regulated financial environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Shape the strategic vision for our testing practices, frameworks and platforms enabling our engineers and engineering teams to ship reliability and at high velocity.
  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Define and communicate team objectives, set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Identify skill gaps within the team and coordinate training programs to enhance technical capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables, and create project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Allocate resources effectively, manage project priorities, and resolve conflicts to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Track and report project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to software development teams, promoting best practices, architectural standards, and code quality.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the software development process.
  • Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, promoting effective communication, coordination, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and execute strategies that drive operational excellence and improve software development practices.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of proven leadership experience as a Software Development Manager or similar technical leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in software development and automated testing strategies for micro-services, including proficiency in multiple programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Go, Python), and technologies in a cloud environment (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading software development teams, with a track record of successfully delivering complex software projects and scaling their operational aspects.
  • Strong understanding of AI accelerated testing principles, infrastructure as code principles and testing technologies (Testcontainers, WireMock, Gatling, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve high performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience leading a developer productivity or test platform organization, and advancing developer facing platforms, AI tools, frameworks and CI/CD systems.
  • Experience working in a regulated tech industry, such as finance.
