Senior Data Software Engineer

Orange IT Services SA is seeking a senior software developer who is passionate about data engineering.

We both conceptualize and develop our own digital products and offer custom development of web and mobile platforms for organizations across different industries.

About the role

As part of our client's core engineering & production management team, you will build, deploy, and support a petabyte-scale, cloud-based, and on-prem data platform with batch and real-time feeds. The development will be fast-moving and iterative following Agile practices. You will collaborate closely with our client's research platform developers to create a fast, reliable, resilient, and maintainable system that delights our clients. You will also work with our client research teams to ensure they have high-quality data to meet their needs.

Responsibilities

• Design & develop complex data pipelines to support real-time and batched based services
• Work closely with our client data scientists to source and integrate new data feeds.
• Write unit tests
• Peer & junior developer design/code review
• Create and manage Docker images
• Deploy services on the public cloud and on-premise

Skills required

• At least 5 years of IT industry experience
• Server-side python experience
• Experience building both REST, GRPC and Websockets-based API's
• Experience with common Big Data technologies like Hadoop Ecosystem, Flink, Spark Streaming, Redis, Pulsar, Kafka or the equivalent stacks
• Experience with data security best practices such as data encryption, masking and fine-grained data access control
• Comfort working with data scientists
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with an Agile development methodology
• Attention to detail and a passion for assuring data quality
• Excellent communication skills

Skills desired

• Server-side .NET development experience in high-performance, front-to-back software architectures using the latest concurrent/asynchronous execution and stack-based memory management patterns
• MLops experience

What we offer

• We offer a permanent contract 40h/week.
• Remote working is allowed, but the availability to reach our office in Chiasso is required.
