Senior Data Scientist, Platform

Grammarly team members in this role must be based in the United States or Canada, and they must be able to collaborate in person 2 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub(s) where the team is based.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our team and work on the Engineering Platform. The person in this role will meld their skills in data analytics with platform optimization, playing a crucial role in amplifying the power, efficiency, and reliability of our core platform services. They will harness the potential of data to guide the evolution of our platform, ensuring it meets the dynamic needs of our product and end users.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Platform Analysis & Enhancement: Dive deep into platform metrics, logs, and traces to uncover insights into system performance, scalability, and reliability. Develop and refine algorithms and models that enhance platform functionality and efficiency.
2. Collaboration & Integration: Work closely with platform engineers to implement data-driven solutions and ensure platform optimizations align with product needs and user demands.
3. Predictive Analytics: Design and deploy predictive models that forecast platform loads, anticipate potential bottlenecks, and offer proactive solutions.
4. Data-Driven Decision Making: Contribute to the strategic direction of the platform's evolution by presenting data-based findings, recommendations, and insights to key stakeholders.
5. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data science and platform engineering, bringing innovation to the team's methodologies and tools.

Your impact

As a Data Scientist, you will: 

• Take on a broad scope of work and an evolving role in a rapidly growing company.

• Conduct deep-dive analyses of user behavior.
• Quantitatively study large user segments.
• Develop user segment targeting strategy.
• Drive direction on the Core Product teams.

• Provide data-driven solutions to complex product and growth questions.
• Define advanced measurement framework for product success.

We’re looking for someone who

• Holds a Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
• Has 5+ years of relevant work experience.

• Demonstrates strong communication, proactiveness, creativity, and prioritization skills.
• Has strong analytical and critical thinking skills and a strong bias toward actionable insights.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Has practical experience in data analysis, statistics, and experimentation.
• Is proficient in SQL, Python, R, Scala, or an equivalent language.

Our US and Canada locations are categorized into compensation zones based on each geographic region’s cost of labor index. Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary ranges for this position are outlined below by compensation zone and may be modified in the future.
