About the job

This position is needed to help define and evolve the architectural direction of the Platform Extensibility & Ecosystem team inside the Customer Data Platform (CDP) group. The team enables our industry-leading Segment CDP catalog by building key strategic integrations and empowering our partner ecosystem through a self-service portal to build next generation customer engagement applications. This role will be among the most senior technical leaders in the team, setting the long-term technical direction and providing oversight in engineering practices.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design, review and build industry-leading data integration solutions powering Twilio Segment CDP.

  • Partner with product managers and designers to prototype the solutions enriching partner ecosystem around Twilio Segment CDP.

  • Partner with the engineers at all levels inside and outside Twilio to build world-class products.

  • Ensure world-class reliability, security, and cost-efficiency for all the products we build.

  • Mentor and lead other engineers on the team through their day-to-day activities as well as career journey.

Required:

  • 7 years of experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language (e.g., Javascript, Typescript, Go, etc.).

  • Experience designing and implementing highly available, performant, and fault-tolerant distributed systems that provide durable and (eventually) consistent results. 

  • Exposure to architectural design patterns of high-scale systems (e.g., well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms, etc.) and experience navigating and understanding large-scale software architectures.

  • Experience as a technical leader mentoring and providing leadership to engineering teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.

  • Ability to build effective working relationships and influence technical directions without authority across all levels of the organization. 

Desired:

  • Exposure to Advertising Technology, Marketing Technology domains.

  • Experience building software solutions together with external partner organizations.

  • Experience building large scale data processing solutions supporting both real-time and batch delivery.

Location 

This role can be based anywhere in North America and can be fully remote.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado: $176,080.00  - $220,100.00
  • Based in New York, Washington State or California (outside the San Francisco Bay Area): $186,480.00 - $233,100.00 
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $207,120.00  - $258,900.00 
  • This role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan and the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave. 

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
