About the Team

The Platform Team leads foundational technology at CookUnity, ensuring stability, scalability, and security. Within the Platform team, there are several sub-teams, including QA, Product Support, Infrastructure, and Core.

The role

As the Platform Director, you will be a key member of our engineering leadership team, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead and shape our platform strategy, overseeing its development, deployment, and maintenance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Operations, to ensure our platform aligns with business goals, technological advancements, and market demands.

Responsibilities:

Define and execute the long-term vision and roadmap for the company's platform, considering both technical and business aspects.
Address technical challenges across the platform.
Prioritize system uptime and ensure teams are prepared for any technical disruptions.
Lead the Core, Infrastructure, QA, and Product Support teams fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of platform components, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability.
Work closely with the product engineering teams to ensure seamless platform operation, including monitoring, incident response, and scalability planning.
Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to make informed decisions on platform architecture and tooling.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and third-party integrators.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure platform success and drive data-driven decision-making.
Manage the platform resource allocation and project timelines effectively.

Minimum Requirements:

Comfortable in a dynamic startup environment.
Proven experience (at least 8 years) in software development, with a focus on platform architecture and engineering.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and mentoring technical teams.
Experience in architecting and managing large-scale technology systems.
Deep understanding of modern software development methodologies, service-oriented architecture, and cloud technologies.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, able to navigate complex technical challenges.
Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present ideas to executive leadership.
Experience with agile development practices and project management tools.
Proficiency with testing processes, deployment procedures, and backend integrations.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
Strong communication skills in English.

Preferred requirements:

Previous experience as a Director of Platform or similar leadership roles.
Knowledge of security best practices in platform design and maintenance.
Understanding of data analytics and its integration into platform features.
Strong business acumen and ability to align technical decisions with strategic goals.
