Job Summary
Rackspace’s Network Security team is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, availability and integrity of our customers’ critical infrastructure whilst providing industry leading Fanatical Support to both the customers and other segments of the business.
Network Security Engineers will be supporting a global customer base employing a mixture of firewalled and load balanced solutions.
Network Security Engineer are customer-facing focused on troubleshooting, logging, and resolving customer specific network security issues.

Key Resposibilities
- Serve as escalation point for L1 engineers.
- Implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting:
- - DNS (A records, CNAMES, MX records, Authority Section, TTL values.)
- - Cisco firewall (ASA/PIX)
- - Cisco IDS/IPS
- - Application firewalls (layer 7)
- - Load balancers (F5, Netscaler)
- - IP routing and switching
- - SNMP and monitoring platforms
- Timely escalation of tickets to the L3 engineers
- IP address assignment and management
- Regularly troubleshooting customer’s IPSEC client and site-to-site VPN connections.
- Provide world-class Fanatical support
- Build relationships with colleagues and customers via the ticket system, telephone and face-to-face
- Work closely with Enterprise Account Teams to facilitate the delivery of complex projects and drive customer satisfaction
- Candidate must have the ability and desire to work within a Team Driven environment and be responsible enough to work with minimal supervision.
- Perform ticket queue monitoring, and prioritization.
Qualifications
- Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Experience with Firewalls (Cisco ASA, ASA-X, Next Generation Firewalls: Firepower and/or Palo Alto).
- Experience with Load Balancers/Application Delivery Devices such as F5 LTM and Citrix NetScalers.
- Knowledge of services and protocols commonly used in hosting environments such as web servers, database servers, mail servers, name servers.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and devices:
- OSI Layer 2 components (MAC ADDR, VLANs, Switchports).
- OSI Layer 3 (ARP, IP, static routing, subnetting, VLSM, router on stick).
- Knowledge and experience with DNS (A records, CNAMES, MX records, Authority Section, TTL values).
- Knowledge and experience with IP routing and switching.
- Role can work remotely in the states of Ciudad de Mexico, Jalisco, Nuevo Leon, Aguascalientes, Queretaro, Estado de Mexico and Puebla. You need to be based in Mexico at one of these locations.
