About the Role:

This Map Engine Engineer role is responsible for supporting building engines to support high definition maps of fully autonomous trucks. The candidate should possess sufficient background for full stack development of a mapping platform. Our Mapping Team is responsible for developing and maintaining the underlying software framework that powers map-based services and applications. This role involves the design and implementation of algorithms for rendering maps, handling spatial queries, and conducting geographical data analyses. The engineer may also work on optimizing the performance of the map engine, ensuring that it can handle large sets of geospatial data and respond to queries efficiently.

What You Will Do:

Develop sophisticated, interactive geospatial web application
Design and develop robust, scalable web service for the map building pipeline
Help improve our engineering process and software quality by participating in engineering design reviews, code reviews, unit tests, CI/CD process, etc.
Able to work independently with minimum supervision and deliver high-quality and reliable code for real-time application in a timely manner
Collaborate with other teams to conduct integration and tests

What You Will Need:

Education: At least a Bachelor’s Degree is required for this role.
Location: Ability to work at TuSimple’s San Diego Headquarters at least three days per week.
Experience:

At least 2 years of Full stack development experience
Strong programming skills in at least one of the popular languages for developing web service backend, such as Java, Python, or Golang
Strong programming skills in developing web applications using JavaScript and React framework or Vue
Experience with large-scale, data-intensive ETL (Extract, transform and load) systems
Practical experience in processing large-scale and real-world data

What Will Set You Apart:

Master’s Degree in, Computer Science, Machine learning or other related fields is preferred.
Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS.
Experience with 3D visualization and rendering

Salary Range

$128,000—$160,000 USD
