Datadog Notebooks provide customers with a collaborative surface for ad-hoc data-exploration, technical documentation, incident postmortems and runbooks. As Engineering Manager of the Notebooks Backend team you will lead and scale your team of engineers as we look to improve our core offering and expand into new business opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and growth-oriented organization. As a critical leader you will be in the drivers seat of new initiatives, working with product and design stakeholders to shape the product and technical roadmap.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Manage and grow the Notebooks Backend team, taking on 5 - 7 direct reports. Facilitate growth and development of your people, aligning opportunities and potential
  • Spearhead major product initiatives that unlock new business opportunities. Drive the team’s roadmap including Quarterly OKRs. Provide relevant visibility to the team and to internal stakeholders
  • Be technically involved with the team - reviewing architecture decisions and RFCs to make sure the team is making sound decisions
  • Learn the landscape of relevant internal teams, building relationships where needed. Use your knowledge of internal platforms to shape architectural decisions and identify partnership opportunities
  • Run and optimize team processes, ensuring the successful delivery of high quality work

Who You Are:

  • You have proven experience managing teams of 5+ engineers with a broad range of seniority
  • You are a product-oriented leader with a strong track record of feature delivery
  • You excel at resolving ambiguity, managing stakeholders, and providing clear direction for your team and projects
  • You have a strong technical background in backend software development and are interested in remaining a hands-on leader
  • You have experience scaling services and ensuring operational excellence
  • You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
