Our technology stack:

• Frontend: the system management interface is written in React and is a Single Page Application.
• Node for filtering attacks requires maximum performance, that’s why we chosen C for its development.
• Backend: we use mainly Ruby (RoR for API only and Sinatra) and Golang (Gin), some components and modules are written in Python (aiohttp, Flask, FastAP)
• QA department using Python for developing integration autotests.

About this opportunity:

You’ll be leading the distributed remote-first Wallarm engineering team to build and scale the cloud-native products that protect APIs and applications of some of the most loaded websites in the world.

We are looking for a trustworthy and proactive engineering manager with many years’ engineering/development experience and proven leadership skills. You will be reporting to the Technical Director of the company. You will be managing several development teams (backend/Ruby/Go/Python, frontend/ReactJS, node/C). In this position, you will play a key role in the overall success of our Engineering department by planning, managing, and monitoring engineering functions. You will be responsible for a very crisp engineering roadmap to deliver on our product plans.

To be successful as an engineering manager, you should have good foresight, great communication skills, working knowledge of different engineering disciplines and how they relate to one another, and an aptitude for managing risk. You should have prior organizational leadership experience, be able to collaborate with team leaders and members, and be a strategic problem-solver. Ultimately, a top-notch engineering manager should demonstrate an excellent ability to connect with other engineers and developers and have a solid foundation in software design.

• Manage 8 engineering teams, serve as the engineering leader with help of architects and engineers

• Plan and execute strategies for launching product updates on time

• Lead the teams through management and mentorship, build cross-team relations

• Lead different rituals and facilitate conversations to ensure that Wallarm teams collaborate effectively

• Communicate and collaborate with Product management, Team leaders and Top management

• Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff

• OKR management for the engineering team

• Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs

• Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes

• Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations

In this role you’ll need:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• 8+ years experience or equivalent, including at least 5+ years of managing a team of 30+ software engineers and DevOps/SRE teams

• SaaS / Cloud based products building experience in an agile way

• Good understanding of modern agile methodologies

• The ability to synthesize all inputs and develop a very crisp engineering roadmap to deliver on our product promises

• Experience driving career growth for early-in-career, mid-level, and senior engineers and engineering manager

• Experience with hiring skilled, diverse talent from around the world, including personal brand

• A proven track record of impressive product launches

• Knowledge about industry trends, best practices, and change management
