The Product & Technology Analytics team is a satellite analytics team that reports into Xero’s Strategy & Operations function. We are responsible for empowering Xero to deliver successful customer outcomes through actionable insights and analytics. Our team supports product and technology teams with key information to ensure that Product and Technology leaders have the information they need to get the right things done and those choices are grounded in analytics.

We do this by creating, managing and delivering a wide range of analytical services including core reporting, key data dimensions, and extensible analytical assets. We aspire to advance a culture of data driven decision making, made possible through high quality, timely assets and insights.

How you'll make an impact..

  • As the Global Insights & Analytics Lead - Product, you will be responsible for providing insights and analytics across Xero’s product portfolio.  This is a senior individual contributor role and will be critical to ensuring our most senior Product and Technology leaders are enabled to get the right things done through decision making grounded in analytics.  The role will be tasked with generating pan-Xero insights to aid in the most strategically important cross functional decisions. The role will require you to align closely with senior  senior executives, with whom you will work to nurture with across the globe.

  • This is a hands-on analytics role that will require you to develop a strong understanding of customer and business needs across multiple products and customer experiences, then apply first class insights/analytics skills to meet those needs.

What you'll do...

  • Support executives and decision makers with key information to: understand the current product landscape, inform and motivate product behaviour and shape strategy.

  • Continually build understanding of the context for a range of products and data domains.

  • Deliver insights and analytics including but not limited to:
  • - Dashboarding and visualisation - metrics, KPIs and OKRs
  • - Data driven strategy execution
  • - Partnering with Product Strategy on initiative sizing
  • - Enhancing customer segmentation and clustering with data

  • Lead engagement with stakeholders & uncover new growth opportunities from data & insights.

  • Manage the roadmap and backlog of work, including hosting sessions to understand, clarify and document business requirements.

  • Advocate for the prioritisation of your initiatives within PIA & with external stakeholders.

  • Develop analytical models and perform deep dives that convert data into actionable insights.

  • Where appropriate, use data science to apply advanced analytics and statistical techniques to provide recommendations, forecasts and optimisations.

  • Present findings and recommendations in the form of succinct data stories to non-technical executive stakeholders.

  • Have the satisfaction that your data and analytics is driving measurable outcomes.

  • Work alongside your peers in PIA leadership to build a strong central function, and actively lead or contribute to internal and cross-product initiatives

  • Comfortable working with complex and diverse datasets
  • Highly proficient in SQL
  • Excellent communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to interact with varied stakeholders - both non-technical and technical
  • Ability to influence outcomes without direct authority
  • Initiative, a passion for data, and a willingness to go the extra mile

  • Experience
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role6+ years or more experience in analytics or SaaS, in a stakeholder facing capacity or as a technical practitioner.
  • Experienced in delivering analytics in the form of interactive dashboards.
  • Experienced in applying advanced analytics techniques and statistical methodologies.
  • Experience across cloud data platforms, eg. Snowflake / DBT, is highly desirable.
  • Leadership experience and exceptional professional maturity, having a solid understanding of how to make things happen within an organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience innovating with data and analytics to create value.
