Who We Are

Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. The company’s custom electric autonomous vehicles are designed to bring the things you need—from produce to prescriptions—right to your home. Nuro’s autonomous, goods-focused solution can give you valuable time back and more freedom to do what you love. This convenient, eco-friendly alternative to driving has the potential to make streets safer and cities more livable.

About the Role

The On-road Experience Engineering team’s goal is to accelerate autonomy R&D through efficient on-road data collection, testing and integration; and support the go-to-market function with reliable commercial delivery execution. We are a full-stack engineering team building applications and backend services that are used every day across multiple cities. Our users include Nuro’s operation teams as well as external partners and consumers.

We are responsible for:

  • User-facing applications that empower drivers to perform necessary actions on a vehicle.
  • Services that read and transmit vehicle data in real time.
  • Delivery services that manage the planning, matching, and execution of a commercial delivery.
  • API integrations with external partners e.g. Uber Eats.

This is the perfect role if you love crafting amazing user experiences, working closely with hardware, building performant web applications, and launching products that users love and depend on. The position demands technical excellence, customer empathy, and a knack for solving tough problems. Come join us in defining the future!

About You

  • Technical excellence.
    • You have 2+ years of experience building full-stack web and/or mobile applications.
    • You have a strong command of frontend technologies: Javascript/Typescript, HTML/CSS and React/React Native.
    • You are comfortable with backend web engineering and are proficient in a major server-side programming framework (Go, C++, Python, etc.)
    • You have a wide range of technical skills, you love learning new technologies and you’re a quick learner.
  • You have the knack for making the right tradeoffs. You know when it makes sense to take the quick-and-dirty vs the scalable approach. You can move fluently between the two.
  • You care about users. You like to work closely with end users and iterate on the product with them.
  • You are a great communicator, and you regularly chat with users, PMs, designers, other engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders on product requirements and designs.
  • You are impact-driven. You care deeply that your work makes a significant impact on the lives of millions of people.

Bonus Points

  • Shown ability to build, launch, and iterate quickly. You’ve experienced product development in all of its stages -- from writing requirements to scoping to launch to iteration. You are especially comfortable in the earlier stages of product development -- in getting from zero to one.
  • Product and business savvy. You like being involved in the “why” in addition to the “how.” You’re eager to understand and contribute to product and business requirements. You can look at a list of potential projects and identify which ones might make a substantial impact (and which ones won’t).
