About the Role - 100% Remote
Engineering Manager is the first manager level where we expect people management to be the majority of your focus, you should be totally removed from your team's technical contribution critical path. However you may still be expected to write and review code from time to time. Engineering Managers generally lead a single, larger team responsible for multiple projects, drive all the hiring and interviewing for it, mentor and guide the career development of their direct reports, and work closely with their product partners to prioritize and scope work.
The goal for an Engineering Manager is to deeply understand all the technology used by your team, own the production operation and monitoring of your projects, manage your team members careers, expectations, performance and level of happiness, adjust the team processes by listening to feedback and guiding the team through the changes whilst ensuring that the changes you make impact not only your team but also other teams that your primary team collaborates with.
For this role we are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to help build a team focused on user journeys and workflows across our pro trading web and mobile products. Think - onboarding, first time user experiences around funding or trading. This will involve working with our partners in data, product and design to build data and an understanding of current points of friction and design solutions to continually iterate and improve our flows to make it easier for our users to accomplish their goals. You will be expected to have a pragmatic attitude to delivery and demonstrate an attitude of ownership of outcomes and value delivered to our users.
Everybody with the Engineering organization is mission oriented and results driven, we put “accelerating the worldwide adoption of cryptocurrency” above all else and we index heavily on tangible business results over ‘busy work’, It’s not about how much code was written, it’s about how much impact was delivered with as little code as possible, or even better - solving a problem without writing any new code.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of full-time professional engineering experience, having worked as a senior engineer at some stage in your career
- 2+ years of experience building and running highly effective software engineering teams utilizing React Native for mobile or React for web
- Deep knowledge of the software development and mobile development ecosystem and delivery best practices, you know when a team isn’t moving fast enough and you know how to fix it
- Experience in establishing user insights using product analytics tools such as Mixpanel, Google Analytics, Superset, Heap, A/B testing etc.
- Experience hiring talented engineers, you have a clear understanding of what it takes to be an excellent Software Engineer
- Clear passion for software engineering
- Familiarity with continuous delivery practices and how to best leverage the ability to ship low cost changes quickly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at a large, well established technology focused company
- Experience in a hyper growth environment, with an ability to design lightweight processes to help multiple teams work effectively at scale

- Experience managing both mobile and web teams using React / React Native, with ability to discuss examples of teams sharing abstractions/libraries cross platform
