ABOUT THE ROLE: The Aviatrix Networking Product Engineering team is responsible for delivering performant, resilient, and scalable solutions to our gateway appliances. This includes infrastructure for upgrade, high availability, as well as Cloud networking and security features that contribute to the Aviatrix Cloud Network Security solution. 

We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead Aviatrix® Networking Team. You will report to and work closely with the VP of Engineering, leading a senior engineering organization. You will continue to grow the engineering team and support them through technical challenges they will encounter. You will already have experience of growing your own team to support the deployment of performant cloud software at scale, will be responsible for your own product components, their design, development, and support. You will gain valuable multi-cloud experience in a cloud-native network environment for enterprise customers and will be joining a talented cloud engineering team in a fast-paced, fast-growing pre-IPO venture. By joining the team, you will display versatility, passion, and drive to help Aviatrix continue to push Multi-Cloud Networking and Security Services technology forward. The Networking team contributes to  Aviatrix Edge to Cloud & Cloud Firewall solutions.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Lead by example, mentor the team, and establish credibility through quality technical execution. 
  • Apply engineering leadership and deep knowledge of software development at scale to lead the operation, adoption, and evolution of our services. 
  • Partner with product management and GTM departments to drive adoption and evolution of the Aviatrix solution. 
  • Develop, mentor, and train other engineers to develop compelling features while maintaining a high-quality bar. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to recruiting, growing, and inspiring a diverse, equitable, respectful team and workplace. 
  • Drive improvements to software development lifecycle and testing practices 
  • Be responsible for your own product components, their design, development, and day 2 operations. 
  • Lead the architecture and design of core software components for Aviatrix Networking Product Engineering products. 
  • Drive efficiency, scalability, and stability for horizontal scaling of gateways and connectivity policies. 
  • Proactively identify and drive changes as needed for the product. 

Requirements: 

  • 12+ years relevant software development experience building enterprise networking or cloud services at scale. 
  • 4+ years of technical leadership experience leading teams of 15+ engineers and working with multi-site engineering teams.
  • Experience designing and operating enterprise networking product at scale. 
  • Experience working with Cloud Infrastructure (compute, networking) on one or more Cloud environments AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI. 
  • Strong cross collaboration and partnership with product management and GTM teams to drive customer adoption. 
  • Understanding elegant and robust designs, including designing APIs. 
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems. 
  • Ability to deliver results in a short time and experience working in fast-paced, high-growth tech companies. 
  • Demonstrated abilities to learn quickly, design efficiently, and write quality software code. 
  • Team player that works well in collaborative situations and start-up environments, with a geographically distributed team. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication. 
  • Experience developing middle tier infrastructure including networking features and applications. 
  • Strong knowledge of Networking: TCP/IP, Routing, NAT, Cloud Connectivity. 
  • Strong experience in Security (e.g., SSL, Authentication, Authorization, Encryption, Egress, etc.). 
  • Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Routing protocols like BGP are strong plusses. 
  • Experience with overlays and tunneling technologies. 

 

Compensation: The US National base salary range for this full-time position is $270,640.00 - $310,000  + target annual bonus + benefits + 401(k) match + equity. The pay range is determined by role, work location, job-related skills, level, experience, and relevant education. The range displayed is the minimum and maximum target base salary and is applicable only for new hires for the listed position located in the US. Your total compensation package will be based on job-related knowledge, education, certifications and location, per our aligned ranges.
