The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Director to lead our global Corporate Technology division. This person will be responsible for leading and managing the IT, Corporate Engineering, and Corporate Security functions across Grammarly's global locations. They will strategize to empower key organizational objectives and create execution plans while collaborating with multiple stakeholders. They will create lasting systems to ensure operational excellence within the organization, including leading multiple work-streams for V0 and steady-state projects. Additionally, they will identify and drive company-wide initiatives to improve employee productivity (remote and in-hub technology experience), autonomy, and speed of execution. They will have a chance to support function-specific technology, such as Finance, Sales, Legal, and Productivity, minimizing duplication and maintenance while ensuring the best possible integrations.

As Director of Corporate Technology, you will:

  • Partner with multiple stakeholders (engineering, finance, people, marketing, workplace experience, etc.) to build cohesion and empower collaboration at Grammarly through exceptional customer support and enterprise technologies. 
  • Foster a metrics-driven engineering and service culture focused on impact and the fastest path to value.
  • Navigate the high-ambiguity, fast-paced organizational environment – evolve services, tools, and processes iteratively. Reassess the existing foundation and make informed decisions on whether to keep or rebuild it. 
  • Own and direct a long-term technical roadmap that aligns with organizational business objectives, including a special focus on enabling the productivity of every Grammarlian and our partners.
  • Ensure Grammarly corporate systems meet the highest standards in security, including innovating in, deploying, and operating security solutions that are ahead of the evolving technology and threat landscape.
  • Hire and mentor your team members, helping them advance in their careers. 
  • Further grow your organization – splitting into teams, establishing the separation of concerns, and building robust processes to achieve high reliability, simplicity, and productivity. 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a strong track record of building and leading global IT teams.
  • Has the analytical ability to systematically break down ambiguous business problems in various Grammarly functions (e.g. marketing, finance, legal, etc.) and build an execution plan.
  • Has experience leading cross-functional enterprise technology efforts, 
  • Is familiar with security threats facing the enterprise and able to guide the company in assessing and mitigating any security risks in the corporate environment.
  • Puts the user first when reasoning about trade-offs. 
  • Leads by example and sets the right context for decisions. 
  • Is passionate about helping internal users be more productive by improving their business objectives via technology more effectively every day. 
  • Is deeply technical and derives satisfaction from helping their team accomplish audacious goals. 
  • Thrives in environments where it’s necessary to make decisions with incomplete information, and can change course when presented with new data.
  • Likes working at multiple levels of the technical stack. 
  • Is curious and has a learning mindset.

Grammarly takes a market-based approach to compensation, which means base pay may vary depending on your location. Our US locations are categorized into two compensation zones based on proximity to our hub locations.

Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary ranges for this position are outlined below by compensation zone and may be modified in the future. 

San Francisco: 
Zone 1: $340,000 – $395,000/year (USD)
