Backend Engineer (Golang)

This role will report into the Engineering Manager and work closely with 3 other engineers within this team. The Compliance team is responsible for the Compliance infrastructure and tooling required to fulfil our Compliance responsibilities as a financial institution, and support SumUp’s growth.

What you’ll do: 

• Participate the Go development on compliance projects - Risk scoring, KYC management as well as integration with case management systems, government regulatory reporting systems, and also developing real time transaction checkpoints
• Building, testing, deploying, monitoring and maintaining your own code
• Architectural design in collaboration with a team of  developers and stakeholders
• Building back office tools for operations team
• Working directly with non-technical team members to determine requirements and collect feedback

Your profile:

• Background in Backend engineering
• Golang development experience preferred, but not required if you have strong backend engineering background in another language
• Experience operating applications on Kubernetes is preferred
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) desirable
• Observability stacks (open telemetry, grafana, prometheus)
• Experience with CI pipelines (github actions)
• Apache spark experience is desirable, not essential
