DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash. We explore robotics and automation to transform last mile logistics in the long term. If you have a passion for applying robotics solutions in a service used by millions of people, then we want to talk to you!

We’re hiring a motion planning engineer in our autonomy software team. In this role, you’ll work with multiple stakeholders including Product, Engineering (hardware and software), and Operations to develop and improve our motion planning system. You’ll be researching, designing and implementing enhancements as a core member of the team. 

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

• Play an integral role on a small and focused team
• Research, develop and implement algorithms for path planning for an autonomous vehicle
• Improve robot capabilities by introducing new robot maneuvers in collaboration with the product team.
• Leverage simulation to test and improve your algorithms
• Contribute to the architecture of a safe and redundant system

We’re excited about you because…

• Experience in at least one of the following: search algorithms, optimization, probabilistic robotics (POMDP), computational geometry
• In-depth knowledge of data structures and advanced algorithms.
• Strong C++ experience
• Industry experience designing, implementing and extending algorithms
• MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or related technical field
• Nice to have experience includes:
• Experience building metrics to evaluate robot performance
• Experience with machine learning techniques applied to motion planning
• Experience developing robotic system evaluation
• Prior experience in the self-driving vehicle space

Compensation

The location-specific base salary range for this position is listed below.  Compensation in other geographies may vary.

Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.  For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location.  Please discuss your intended work location with your recruiter for more information.
