About the job

This position is needed to drive the technical strategy behind Twilio’s SRE organisation, building and developing the world’s most reliable platform for messaging, voice, applications and beyond.

At Twilio, we continue to drive the infrastructure behind messaging, voice and data for many of the world’s largest properties. By definition, we form part of the dependency chain for critical applications and usage; our reliability and response must be world class. As SRE Architect, your role will be to drive our technical roadmap, work with SRE leadership to build our team and our capability, and work with other architects across Twilio to write and tell our reliability story. We will continue our commitment to reliability as a top priority, this role is crucial to that mission. This role reports directly to the VP of SRE.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Partner across Twilio at the highest levels of technical leadership to drive our reliability story.
  • Own the technical roadmap and strategy for SRE software.
  • Cultivate an inclusive, challenging and stimulating work environment for SREs of all levels and specialisations.
  • Work directly with the VP of SRE on strategy and technology outcomes.

Required:

  • Excellent generalist knowledge of software engineering and delivery.
  • In-depth understanding of the role of SRE in a large organisation.
  • Previous experience driving cross-org technical architecture outcomes.
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture and non-abstract large-scale systems design.
  • Excellent and proven partnership and negotiation skills.

Desired:

  • Specific experience owning and operating large AWS footprints.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and concepts.
  • Specify education, previous job experience, certifications, technical skills and soft skills required.

Location 

This role will be remote, based in Ireland or Spain.Occasional travel is anticipated.
