The Team
The Architecture Practice team is the ‘enabling team of the enabling team’ of Architecture. The team exists to help improve the practice of architecting at Xero through partnering with other architects to develop fit-for-purpose processes and methodologies, continually improving those artefacts and processes, and then role modelling those practices by engaging on cross-cutting architectural initiatives and programmes of work at Xero.
About You
An ideal candidate will be someone who is keen to learn and explore taking a product-development mindset to improving architectural practice. You’ll be someone who sees the value of tech decision making in enabling ‘goldilocks governance’, and who is keen to work out the right processes and disciplines to encourage engagement across Xero. You will be approachable, collaborative, creative, and have good perseverance.
If the above sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. We’re a place where personal development, innovation, and change are not only encouraged but also celebrated. We value our people and want them to enjoy and take pride in their work. Xero offers competitive remuneration packages, flexible working opportunities and modern working environments.
We're a huge part of the development community and you'll find Xeros attending and speaking at conferences and hosting meetups. We're really open in our discussions at Xero, from the latest product management thinking to diversity and inclusion.
At Xero our Architects are expected to:
- Taking an experimental/hypothesis-driven approach to improving both technology and technical decision making at Xero, including designing and optimising processes and mechanisms for capturing, ratifying and communicating architectural decisions
- Supporting and enabling other architects to share the results of their professionally-relevant development as part of creating a generative culture around practice improvement and knowledge sharing
- Establishing a clear measurement baseline of stakeholder satisfaction with architecture engagement to help guide more consistent delivery of the unique value proposition of architecture at Xero
The team needs to deliver these results via active participation in the practices that are being improved and evolved. This entails being responsible for framing the medium to long-term, high-level technical design for cross-cutting initiatives and architectural programmes of work at Xero. Such work involves helping define and communicate solution architectures and requirements in a way that provides clear technical direction to other architects, engineers and engineering managers, enabling them to work with their teams to deliver solutions to customers.
