Applied AI Engineer - GCP Vertex AI or AWS Bedrock

About the Team At Business Technology, we use Appian to run Appian. We are launching our first internal AI team to build the foundation for how our global company works. This team won't just use AI, they will build the brain of the enterprise, spanning everything from predictive intelligence in our data warehouse to the GenAI infrastructure that powers our internal autonomous agents.

We are hiring a founding group of engineers to kickstart this mission. As an AI Engineer on this team, you won’t be maintaining legacy systems; you’ll be building from the ground up. You will own the full spectrum of AI: crafting predictive ML models to find insights in our data warehouse and architecting GenAI systems that allow any employee to interact with enterprise knowledge through intelligent agents.

What you’ll do:

• Develop the Full AI Stack: Build and deploy predictive ML models and GenAI agents using GCP Vertex AI (preferred) or AWS Bedrock.
• Power the Enterprise: Create RAG pipelines and agentic workflows that connect users to real-time enterprise data.
• Master the Data: Work within our data warehouse to build models that predict business outcomes and streamline operations.
• Trailblaze Best Practices: Help establish the coding standards, MLOps, and deployment patterns for our internal AI practice.

Required Qualifications:

• Cloud AI Expertise: Professional experience building and deploying production-ready AI features using GCP Vertex AI or AWS Bedrock.
• Python Mastery: Deep proficiency in Python and common AI/ML libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Google Cloud/OpenAI SDKs).
• AI/ML Fundamentals: 2+ years of experience building either predictive ML models (regression, classification) or GenAI applications (RAG, Prompt Engineering).
• Technical Foundation: B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Data Warehouse Experience: Familiarity with SQL and pulling data from warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery) for model training.
• Appian Exposure: Experience with the Appian platform or a desire to learn how to integrate AI into low-code automation.
• Vector Databases: Experience with Pinecone or pgvector for high-performance retrieval.
• Advanced MLOps: Knowledge of model versioning, monitoring, and evaluation frameworks.

This role is based at our Chennai office in Brigade World Trade Center Chennai.
