We’re searching for a Staff Technical Program Manager - Fault Handling & Product Integration to join Aurora’s Driver TPM team focusing on fault handling, redundancy, and cross-functional software integration. This role will partner closely with our Autonomy Software, Platform Software and Services (PSS) and System Engineering organizations as well as Vehicle Operations.

In this role, you will

  • Partner tightly with software engineering leaders to drive successful formulation, execution and delivery of cross-functional software engineering programs focused on fault management and system redundancy.
  • Partner tightly with system engineering, testing and operational teams to derive requirements and test verification strategies.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for information and up-to-date status for relevant programs including facilitating regular executive program reviews.
  • Track progress, identify success metrics, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks and communicate status to upper management and project stakeholders, and engage and energize the project teams to achieve aggressive goals.
  • Accountable for framing and delivering work in service of company-level integration milestones to deliver the self-driving system as a commercially viable product.
  • Remove obstacles to drive momentum and progress, identify gaps in communication or schedule, manage issue escalations, and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities, and drive results proactively.
  • Ask questions that clarify priorities, surface alternative solutions, highlight critical decisions, and push the team to be effective.
  • Support technical and strategic planning, leading conversations with key stakeholders to develop concepts for initiatives, and developing those into detailed program / project plans (including roadmaps, funding planning, and resource planning).

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a Technical Program Manager, Product Manager, Engineering Manager, or Engineer in an autonomous systems, robotics, data science, machine learning, computer vision, or software development environment with experience driving deeply technical initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Information Systems or a related area, or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability preferred.
  • Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand and occasionally inform/direct technical designs, challenges and risks; ability to work closely with software engineers.
  • Knowledge of technical architectures, computer science, and software development lifecycle.
  • Deep cross-functional leadership, collaboration, and communication experience with a track record of consistently delivering clarity and alignment to deliver successful product outcomes.
  • Direct, measurable impact through the design, development and launch of groundbreaking products.
  • Data driven; metrics definition and ability to draw insight and guide action from analysis.
  • Strong experience in project management. Able to tailor project management approach to partner teams.
  • Passion for shipping new to market products and the ability to dynamically adapt to new responsibilities needed to do so.

 

The base salary range for this position is $181,000-$290,000 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
