What We Do
On the HD Maps team, we are at the forefront of geospatial big-data analytics and insights for customer market segments and product offerings. Our expertise is pivotal in deploying GIS algorithmic stages into scalable production cloud applications, leveraging platforms like AWS and Spark. We work on Mapbox's award-winning high-precision maps (“HD Maps”) products family, spanning across ADAS, AV, and Non-Automotive GIS data customers in numerous projects. We cover everything from data and systems analysis to automotive and cloud application architecture, including compute, storage, cost and performance assessments.
What You'll Do
- Take part in the design and implementation of algorithmic stages within cloud applications, utilizing technologies such as Python (or Scala), SQL, AWS, and Spark.
- Utilize expertise in data analysis, Python (or Scala) programming, and geospatial concepts to drive the success of mapping initiatives.
- Ensure data quality control and accuracy.
- Conduct data analysis, generate reports, and support research initiatives related to HD map or mapping.
- Develop dashboards in Mode to monitor key metrics.
- Write SQL queries to work with data
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address data-related challenges and opportunities.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate analytics solutions into mapping products, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Engage directly with customers, automotive OEMs, suppliers, and mapping firms to gather requirements and feedback.
What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
- Proficiency in Python (or Scala) and SQL, with experience deploying GIS algorithms within scalable cloud applications.
- Understanding of geospatial data concepts and tools (GeoJSON, PostGIS, QGIS).
- Experience with data visualization libraries (Matplotlib, Plotly, D3.js) and dashboard development (Mode, Grafana, Power BI).
- Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Experience in data analysis within industry, preferably HD maps and automotive.
- Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, including tasks, metrics, and model evaluation techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and self-motivated attitude.
Nice to Have Traits for This Role
- Experience with big data management, data integration and analytics.
- Experience writing unit tests and optimizing code performance.
- Knowledge of data quality control methods and probability theory/statistics.
- Previous experience working in the GIS domain is a plus.
